This year we decided to take it to the next level, convince our friend Katie and her two-year-old son Micah and get a plot at the Cobleskill Community Garden. For $20 we became the proud owners of a 20-foot by 5-foot plot. After our first visit to the community garden, Micah didn't quite get what a garden was, so we began referring to our 100-square-foot of earth as our tiny farm.
We were finally able to plant our veggies and get our hands dirty.

Sidenote: the Cobleskill Community Garden was started last year as an Eagle Scout project and an internship for a SUNY Cobleskill student. The garden is located at SUNY Cobleskill between the Campus Child Care Center and Kelley's Farm & Garden (how convenient), and has 20 plots. The local Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, the college's Plant Science Department and the local Boy Scout Troop all help to educate and maintain the garden.
